Thunder honored by Celebrating Heathley West Virginia

For Immediate Release:      Charleston (WV)  Thunder Sled Hockey was  recognized by Celebrating Healthy West Virginia for creating opportunities that make our state a healthier place.

Charleston (WV) Thunder Sled Hockey is excited to announce that our organization was recognized at the 2025 Celebrating Healthy West Virginia Awards for our commitment to creating environments where everyone has an opportunity to live a healthier life.

Celebrating Healthy West Virginia (CHWV) is a program The West Virginia State Department of Health, Bureau for Public Health, Division of Health Promotion and Chronic Disease (HPCD) developed to recognize the efforts organizations and communities are making across our state to make West Virginia a healthier place to live, learn, work, eat, and play.

Alongside 45 other organizations, Charleston (WV) Thunder Sled Hockey was among the nominees to be recognized this year at the ceremony at West Virginia Wesleyan University on June 6th.

Charleston (WV) Thunder Sled Hockey provides a true hockey experience for those in WV with physical disability.  We  provide on-and-off-ice exercise equipment and all the equipment need for practices and games, as well as opportunity for socialization among our players.  We rely heavily on our wonderful volunteers to run this program.

The 2025 CHWV recognition celebration was the final event during the Try This West Virginia gathering. After the conference, a dinner honoring organizations across West Virginia that are making positive health-related impacts in their communities was held.
